Mastercouch

- Modern radiotherapy treatment techniques have led to the conclusion that standard treatment couches introduce non-desirable limitations when it comes to patient set up for multiple field treatments, such as IMRT.
- Conventional treatment couches are made suitable for all sorts of treatments. For particular treatment areas however, this may lead to difficulties as the dimensions of the couch physically limit certain set ups.
- Furthermore, standard couch tops often contain metal or less efficient constructed carbon fiber parts that attenuate the beam and cause scatter in the region of interest. Sinmed, with their long expertise in the development and manufacturing of carbon fiber radiotherapy equipment, has developed a brand new modular couch top concept that overcomes all these imperfections.
- The Sinmed Mastercouch consists of a base that replaces most existing treatment couches. This base is then extended with a treatment module, dedicated to a specific treatment area. The entire concept is based on optimized dimensions of the treatment modules with respect to the target volume to ensure a perfect set up for multiple field treatments. When not in use, the modules can be hung on the wall using the storage systems provided to save valuable shelf space. By using sophisticated carbon fiber construction and manufacturing techniques, no metal parts are used in the entire treatment area so attenuation and build-up effect is kept at an absolute minimum. With a weight of merely 4 kg, the treatment modules can be easily exchanged between treatments to prepare for the next patient. Existing positioning accessories can be attached to the indexed positioning pivots that are mounted along both sides of the couch.
